America accountable for 4 of the 50 Most Violent Cities in 2015

Four American cities have been classified among the 50 highest murder rates in 2015, St. Louis placing 15 on the list with 188 homicides per 317,000 residents according to a study conducted by the Mexico-based group Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice.
The study focused on cities with populations of at least 300,000, excluding those with no reliable crime statistics, as well as those in war zones.
Baltimore, Detroit, and New Orleans, all made the list, due to their systematic violence problems, making America the only developed nation on the list. Baltimore received attention nationwide for mass riots that were triggered by the death of Freddie Gray in April. Freddy Gray was one of 434 homicides in the city of Baltimore with 624,000 residents in 2015.
Caracas, Venezuela's capital was classified as the world's most violent city last year, according to the study. Staggering number of 3,946 people died violently in the city of Caracas, that is 119.87 people for every 100,000 inhabitants. Following Caracas with the second highest number of homicides, was Cape Town in South Africa, with 2,451 homicides but was placed ninth on the list because of its population of 3,740,000, leaving a death rate of 65.52, which is less than San Pedro Sula in Honduras, San Salvador in El Salvador, and five other Mexican cities.
Brazilian cities were featured the most on the list, but Venezuela continues to have a higher level of urban violence in general, due to the deteriorating economic situation in the country the study said. Latin America is accountable for the majority of the cities, with Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, El Salvador, and Guatemala. The gangs, drug violence, and high government corruption are all responsible for the high numbers of murder rates.
Other than Latin America, only nine cities come from other parts of the world, being the four in the United States, four in South Africa, and Kingston, Jamaica's capital. Below we leave you with the list of 2015's most violent cities.
