DEA open to reclasify Marijuana out of a Schedule 1 Drug

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has stated that it will conduct an investigation that is to last until the end of July which will decide whether to reclassify the current status of Marijuana out of the category of a Schedule I Drug.

According the the DEA Schedule I drugs is a substances, or chemical with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Schedule I drugs are the most dangerous drugs of all the drug schedules with potentially severe psychological or physical dependence.

Despite what you may personally think on whether Marijuana is a drug or not, it has become indisputable that there are ample and undeniable health benefits in Medical Cannabis. This alone calls for the re-evaluation on the standards set on this plant and the conduct law enforcement is to have in regards to those who use it for medical and even recreational usage. In the case of the reclassification of the Plant, even those who use it recreationally would be at less harms away from being sentenced to long prison sentences for non violent crimes. This announcement to reclassify Marijuana will impact the lives of millions of people around the country and perhaps set the trend worldwide to adopt a more sensible policy to this ever controversial issue.
